We are currently seeking passionate individuals to fill the following volunteer opportunities:

Program Committee

Our Program Committee is helping us develop and create the best programming for our scholars. This committee assists with planning our annual HBCU trip for Fellows, our summer camping trips, scholar awards, and other programming. We are looking for creative, passionate professionals who want to empower urban youth and help to change the world. 

Fund Development Committee

Our Fund Development Committee helps us as we continue to grow as an organization to diversify and expand where and how we raise funds to support our programming. This committee is perfect for individuals with financial knowledge, communication skills, a passion for our organization and supporting urban youth.

Other volunteer opportunities:

After School Program Volunteers - Consider supporting our after-school program as a youth mentor or program assistants. 

  • Youth Mentors provide high school Fellows one-to-one support with college and career pathway planning. Activities may include assistance with completing scholarship and college applications, feedback in writing essays, career externship opportunities, financial planning and budgeting, etc.

    • 9th - 12th grade: Wednesday: 5:00 - 7:00 PM  

  • Program Assistants provide support to our K4-8th grade facilitators and program lead in the after-school setting. Tasks may include: Serving snacks, providing scholar support during activities, assisting with data tracking, family communications and student check-ins, and other lite tasks as needed. 

    • K4 - 8th grade: Tuesdays 3:30 - 5:30 PM 

Community Experiences and Access Partnerships - Community partnerships help us provide more access to life-changing experiences for both scholars and their families. 

  • Community partners typically commit to a 6 - 8 week (or longer) volunteer term.

Event Volunteers- FUL hosts up to four-family engagement activities per year, with the Holiday Party, Showcase, and Graduation Celebration being the primary staple activities each year. Volunteers help set up, tear down, plan and help host and interact with families at these functions.

  • Event volunteer is 2 or more hours of volunteer time per event.

Committees and Board of Director Volunteer - FUL is always looking for new talented volunteers to join our fund development or board of directors teams.

  • Most committees meet once per month on a consistent schedule and volunteers tend to spend an average of 5 hours per month volunteering.

Fundraising Volunteer- Fundraising volunteers help with day-of tasks like checking in and out guests, monitoring auctions and event activities, setting up and tear-down, and event planning logistics. 

  • Typical volunteer hours rotate on a 1-4 hour shift depending on the fundraisers' schedule.
